Thun - Hajduk Split

Swiss champions Thun and the leaders of the Croatian league, Hajduk Split, face off in the second round of the Conference League. In the opening round, Thun suffered a 0:1 defeat away against Dutch side Twente, while Hajduk secured a 2:1 victory in Split against the most trophy Dutch club, Ajax.

This summer, Thun lost 14 players from their championship-winning squad following the departure of the club's main sponsor. Consequently, they currently sit in ninth place in the Swiss league, with 10 points from 10 matches.

This European match serves as an opportunity to regain confidence, and there is no doubt that the hosts will play an attacking football in pursuit of a win. Hajduk, meanwhile, is enjoying its best run of form in years, having reached the group stage of a European competition for the first time in 16 years and in their last three matches defeated not only Ajax, but also their arch-rivals Dinamo in the league, as well as a very strong Varaždin side.

The squad, managed by Uruguayan coach Gonzalo Garcia, arrives in Thun with high expectations, bolstered by over 6,000 tickets purchased by Hajduk fans from Croatia and countries across Europe. The visitors will therefore enjoy tremendous support from the stands, which should spur them toward victory. The hosts will be without left winger Kristal, while the visitors from Split arrive at full strength squad. As a result, this promises to be an intensely attacking encounter, without calculations, with a very realistic possibility of at least three goals being scored.
