Paris Saint-Germain against Barcelona is undoubtedly one of the standout fixtures of this Champions League round. Both teams favour possession-based, attacking football, but PSG appear to have an advantage in terms of squad availability. Luis Enrique's side have started their European campaign impressively, beating Slovan Bratislava 6-1 before securing a remarkable 4-2 away victory against Manchester City. Scoring ten goals in two Champions League matches highlights the effectiveness of their attacking system. Producing four goals against opposition of City's quality also demonstrates that PSG's threat extends well beyond individual moments of brilliance.

The main injury concern for PSG is at left-back, where Nuno Mendes has been ruled out with a thigh injury. Young midfielder Senny Mayulu is also doubtful. Mendes is an important player because of his pace, attacking contribution and ability to recover defensively, but PSG still have tactical alternatives. Warren Zaïre-Emery can operate in a wider role, while Marquinhos, Willian Pacho and Achraf Hakimi provide experience and quality in defence. In midfield, Vitinha, João Neves and Fabián Ruiz offer excellent technical ability and ball control. Barcelona face more serious problems in defence. Andreas Christensen is unavailable with a leg injury, Jules Koundé has an ankle problem, and Eric García is sidelined with a thigh injury. Losing three defenders simultaneously creates a significant challenge for Hansi Flick. Pau Cubarsí, Gerard Martín and João Cancelo are expected to take on important defensive responsibilities, potentially requiring positional adjustments. Barcelona still have outstanding attacking talent in Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Fermín López, while Raphinha is expected to be available for a starting role. However, their defensive organisation could suffer because of the enforced changes.
